Skateboarding: Hinano Kusaki finishes 2nd behind Ventura at park worlds

ROME (Kyodo) — Japan’s Hinano Kusaki earned her second consecutive silver medal at the world park skateboarding championships Sunday in Rome.

The 16-year-old Kusaki, who was eighth at the Paris Olympics, scored 91.44 points, 2.29 behind Brazilian winner Raicca Ventura. Spain’s Naia Laso rounded out the podium with 90.14.

Japanese compatriots Mei Sugawara, Mizuho Hasegawa and Asahi Kaihara placed fourth, fifth and sixth in the women’s competition, respectively.

A best-of-three, 45-second-per-run format was used in the final.
