Mike Pence Group Issues Warning to Donald Trump Over RFK. Jr.—’Loony Ideas’

An advocacy group founded by former vice president Mike Pence has warned Donald Trump against giving Robert F. Kennedy Jr. a potential new administration job because of his “looney” left-wing views.
The Advancing American Freedom (AAF) think tank said that any job offered to Kennedy if Trump returns to the White House would be an “unmitigated disaster for the country,” while pointing to his leftist beliefs, as well as his history of being an anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist.
Kennedy originally launched his 2024 presidential bid as a Democrat before switching to run as an independent candidate. He largely suspended his campaign on August 23 by removing his name from ballots in key swing states, endorsing Trump in the race.
Trump later announced that Kennedy, along with former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, will serve on the Republican’s transition team.
A super PAC supporting Kennedy told Reuters that the endorsement for Trump was done in exchange for a job in a potential Trump administration. In a recent interview with CNN, Trump said “certainly I’d be open” to offering Kennedy a role in his administration if he endorsed the former president’s 2024 campaign.
In a memo, seen by the National Review, the AAF said that Kennedy’s left-wing ideological beliefs do not belong in a Republican administration.
“RFK Jr.’s embrace of loony ideas and policies that are antithetical to conservatism will do more damage to the Conservative Movement than the support he may bring in,” AAF wrote. “The Conservative movement must be laser focused on the issues this November, not platforming conspiracy theorists in an attempt to scrape out an election.”
Trump’s and Kennedy’s offices have been contacted for comment via email.
Trump’s embrace of Kennedy came after he previously described him as “by far the most Radical Left person running for office, maybe ever,” while dismissing reports Kennedy was being considered as his 2024 running mate.
The former president’s relationship with Pence, who was Trump’s running mate in the 2016 and 2020 elections, fell apart in the wake of the January 6 attack at the Capitol.
Kennedy, whose Democratic dynasty family have dismissed his political career and views, is well known for his history of left-wing views and environmental activism.
During his time as an environmental lawyer, Kennedy pushed for a ban on fracking, and he was arrested in 2013 at a protest against the Keystone XL oil pipeline.
Kennedy has won numerous legal battles against large corporate polluters, as well as helped set up the Waterkeeper Alliance, a non-profit devoted to protecting clean water that has worked on six continents.
Kennedy is also a prominent vaccine conspiracy theorist, including touting the highly disputed claim that there is a link between vaccines and autism.
The AAF memo notes that Kennedy was accused of stoking anti-vaccine sentiment on the Pacific island nation of Samoa in 2019. Subsequently there was a measles outbreak there that saw the deaths of 83 people, including children.
In a 2023 podcast interview, Kennedy also suggested that the polio vaccine caused an “explosion” of soft tissue cancers that killed “many, many, many more people” than polio ever did.
AAF previously hit out at the “radical record” of Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, in an August 6 memo.
“Gov. Walz is actually the perfect pick for Vice President Kamala Harris — a hardcore leftist who appeals to the growing Ilhan Omar wing of the Democratic Party,” AAF executive director Paul Tellers told Fox News Digital.
